At Penn State, during my first semester, a small group of my architecture classmates and I teamed up with some 5th year landscape architecture students. The design behind our installation was purely conceptual and aesthetic. We designed an organic shape wave in Rhino, and brainstormed about materiality. Being freshmen, it was the architects’ jobs to clean all the recycled water bottles we claimed from the campus recycling center. The bamboo was my suggestion as it was a bulk item for relatively cheap that required little work to make fit in our design, and it is a sustainable product. The project was overall successful and an interesting and explorative venture at the beginning of my experience at Penn State.
